Frequently asked questions about
Life Coaching
-
Life coaching is a collaborative, forward-focused process that supports you in clarifying your purpose, overcoming obstacles, and stepping into the life God is calling you to live. Rooted in both biblical principles and a trauma-informed understanding of personal growth, our coaching approach honors your whole story—past and present—while helping you move forward with intention and faith.
-
Trauma is not just what happens to us — it's also how our mind, body, and emotions respond to overwhelming or distressing experiences. These experiences can range from a single event, like an accident or loss, to ongoing situations such as neglect, abuse, or chronic stress.
-
Feeling “stuck” in certain thought patterns or emotions
Avoiding places, people, or memories tied to the event
Difficulty trusting others or feeling safe
Physical symptoms like fatigue, tension, or restlessness
A sense of disconnection from yourself or others
Everyone’s experience of trauma is unique. Some people may not even realize certain experiences were traumatic until later in life when the effects begin to surface
Spiritual Bypassing
Spiritual bypassing is a common form of spiritual abuse and church hurt.
-
Spiritual bypassing happens when spiritual ideas or positive language are used to avoid or shut down real emotional pain. Phrases like:
“just pray about it,”
“God is in control,”
“you need to forgive and move on,”
“everything happens for a reason,” or even
“just stay positive”can all sound comforting, but when they’re used to dismiss grief, anger, or confusion, they can cause harm.
-
Instead of allowing people to process what they’re experiencing, spiritual bypassing pressures them to move on too quickly and ignore what they’re feeling instead of bringing it honestly before God. Over time, this can lead to unresolved pain, self-doubt, a distorted view of God’s character, and a sense that difficult emotions are somehow wrong or unwelcome.
-
Healing comes from acknowledging pain in a safe, supportive space — instead of skipping over it. Growth happens when honesty is allowed and people are met where they are, not where they’re expected to be.
At Mindful Coaching & Counseling, we provide a supportive, non-clinical space where we can work together to identify how past experiences may be impacting your present — and build tools to move forward with clarity, purpose, and self-compassion.
